Community Relations

Public Performance by School Musical Organizations

The Board of Education recognizes that worthy and appropriate educational values accrue from student participation in civic and community affairs.

Authorization for participation in a community activity may be granted by the building Principal. It is understood that the academic schedule of the student participants will be a prime consideration before approval is granted.

No student or group of students under the supervision of the schools shall appear on any program that has a commercial sponsor, for local political rallies, or for organizations engaged in an activity for private profit unless approved by the Superintendent of Schools.

Musical organizations shall not be permitted to perform for compensation; however, contributions for uniforms or music, which are supplied by the school system, may be received.

In general, musical organizations will not be permitted to put on programs for churches unless it is a joint interfaith service.
