INSTRUCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

The Newtown Public Schools plan for educational assessment as approved by the Board of Education has major education purposes as follows:

1. To measure the achievement and progress of students in the areas of reading, language arts, and mathematics and to develop and implement procedures or remediation for students in need of assistance.
2. To assess the instructional program utilizing the testing and evaluation procedures described within the plan and to plan strategies and procedures for the improvement of instruction based on the assessment.
